Does Nicotine Affect THC Detox?

Does Nicotine prevent THC from detox? No! Nicotine doesn’t affect THC detox in any way.

The idea that Nicotine can help interfere with THC detox comes from 2 assumptions:

Let’s find out if any of these statements are true and if Nicotine can detox THC.

Does Nicotine affect weight loss?

Weight loss is an essential step for THC detox. This is because THC metabolites are fat-soluble and are stored in body fat cells. So you need to burn body fat to release these metabolites for removal.

Tobacco smoking was associated with appetite suppression among Pre-Columbian indigenous Americans and Old World Europeans.

Most of the effects of tobacco smoking on body weight are because of Nicotine. It suppresses the appetite and makes you eat less.

Nicotine’s other effect increases the resting metabolic rate, making your body burn more calories.

As a result, you consume fewer calories than your body requires, and your body starts burning fat cells as a source of energy.

Another effect of Nicotine is that it is a behavioral alternative to eating. This means that you tend to smoke instead of eating. As a result, you consume fewer calories.

Does Nicotine slow THC metabolism?

THC is metabolized mainly in the liver. During phase 1 of metabolism, several enzymes (CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP3A4) convert THC to 11-OH-THC and then to 11-COOH-THC.

Some of the compounds of tobacco smoke are believed to be responsible for improving liver enzymes’ activity(inducing).

Thus, in theory, they could speed up the THC metabolism in the liver.

Several studies showed that nicotine and smoking tobacco doesn’t affect enzymes responsible for THC metabolism.

This study showed that CYP2A6 and CYP2E1 activities are not affected by Nicotine. The tobacco smoke constituents responsible for the reduced CYP2A6 and increased CYP2E1 activities remain unknown.

This study found that cigarette smoking significantly enhances CYP2E1 activity.

But this enzyme is not responsible for THC metabolism.

Smoking tobacco and Nicotine doesn’t prevent THC from detox.

It can even theoretically help detox THC faster, but Nicotine’s numerous health dangers make this the most horrible idea and should not be endorsed at any cost.

Nicotine and smoking dangers

Besides Nicotine, tobacco cigarettes and smokeless tobacco contain many cancer-causing agents and other harmful chemicals. The nearly 4,000 chemicals found in tobacco have physical, mental, and psychological effects. Using tobacco leads to grave health complications, including:
